GEAR TO GO
Panasonic AG-HVX200: This camera kicks… everything to the curb. The price is steeper than a simple Sony HandyCam but the superb HD visuals will make your mouth drop… or maybe water… or something. Point is, the HVX200 has raised the bar on the level of production quality now possible for the indie filmmaker. Pair this up with an Apple Final Cut Express HD system and you’re ready to pump out broadcast-quality work right out of your bedroom. |
IN THE NEWS
Film on the Run will soon be making plans for its Fall 2008 tour, expanding its tour stops to twelve cities and reaching twenty colleges and universities. The tour will offer a unique interactive experience where the audience doesn’t just watch the films – it makes them. Filmmakers on each campus will compete for top prizes, including grant money and equipment, in such categories as Narrative Short, Documentary Short, Cinematography and Screenwriting. |
FILM 101
For info on film schools around the country – and around the world – check out Filmmaking.net's Film School Directory for every campus with a film/video department. The website is also a great resource for all production needs, including connections with other filmmakers who can offer advice and equipment. You could also just skip the school and go straight to Robert Rodriguez's 10-Minute Film School, where the most important part of becoming a filmmaker is knowing that you already are one. |
